Strawberry Fields
“Every summer my family looks forward to fresh strawberries. A few years ago, we discovered an organic pick-your-own strawberry patch. We drive out to the fields, and my 3 kids and I each pick as many boxes as we can. At least that’s the idea.
“Last year, after filling 2 boxes of my own and helping my oldest daughter fill her 2 boxes, I went to check on the other kids.
“My second-oldest daughter had berries in her box, and she was a bit frustrated and tired; not the most patient child I have, but she tries. Then I want to my youngest son. His face was very red.
“You see, the growers told us that a lot of the berries go to waste, so we were allowed to eat as many as we wanted as we picked. While most people eat a berry or 2, my son ate all he could pick, with the exception of a few that landed in his box! I guess those berries didn’t go to waste.
“My daughters and I helped my son fill his box, but it was funny to see him eat so many berries. I wish I’d had the camera out there in the berry patch. We’re looking forward to picking again this year, but maybe we’ll leave him home!”
