“When I cooked my first turkey, I had my mom and stepfather over for Thanksgiving dinner. I was so proud of myself. I kept checking on the turkey, and it looked so good.

“At dinner, as we were carving the turkey, my more-experienced cook of a mother noticed I’d left the bag inside the turkey! Oh boy, was I embarrassed — I felt so stupid! My mom laughed and smiled, and I just couldn’t help but laugh, too! I wanted to crawl into a hole, really, but we just laughed it off. Hey, you live and learn, cook and cook again.”
