When we opened the Farm Stand’s Organic Kitchen in 2003, it was only the third certified organic kitchen in the US. Today, it’s still a delicious expression of our mission to share the benefits of organic food with as many people as possible. Our Organic Kitchen serves a delicious array of handmade foods for every taste — from organic coffees, teas, and smoothies, to an all-organic salad bar, fresh soups, prepared meals, and bakery treats. Our imaginative seasonal menu showcases freshly harvested produce at its peak, plus perennial Farm Stand favorites such as carrot cake and brownies, spinach cannelloni, tahini chicken with soba noodles, and grilled vegetable lasagna with pesto (a local legend). We’ve just added soft-serve organic frozen yogurt, too!Our Commitment to Organic Food Organic certification means that Organic Kitchen meals meet strict USDA National Organic Program standards. We prepare all our food with certified organic ingredients (the only exceptions being what isn’t available organically, such as baking soda and salt). It’s no surprise that there are so very few organic kitchens in the country; the certification requires extensive documentation and an unwavering focus on organic integrity. A Better Value Prices for the Organic Kitchen’s all-organic foods are somewhat higher than comparable food made with conventional ingredients. Organic ingredients often cost more, and the documentation required to certify a meal as organic takes extra labor. Nevertheless, we believe that organic food is an infinitely better value in the long run — not just because we think it tastes better, but because organic food is healthier to eat and friendlier to the environment.
