March 11, 2010 WHAT’S COOKING
First up is a simple but delicious cacciatore sauce, with chunky vegetables and flavorful herbs in a savory tomato sauce. Cacciatore is Italian for “hunter,” and it’s also become synonymous for an aromatic tomato-based sauce often used for simmering pieces of browned meat. Handmade in small batches at the Farm Stand, Chef Sarah’s sauce is perfect for simmering chicken, tossing with fresh pasta, or as a starting point for your own culinary adventure. Stop by and get some — freshly made, utterly delicious, and certified organic. If visiting us in Carmel Valley isn’t convenient, Chef Sarah’s recipe is: in our recipe database! Try it at home and let us know what you think.
Meet Kathleen and Arnott Duncan, literally a “couple” of the farmers who grow organic produce for us. Their family business is their passion for the land, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Meet more of our farmers online — when it comes to caring for the land responsibly and growing fresh, healthy, and safe food, they’re some of the most passionate people you’ll ever find. Got questions for our farmers? Want to know more about organic produce? Send us your questions and comments — we’ll try to answer them in future issues.
Throughout April, we’ll be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in our Earth-Bound Kitchen. We’ll show you how making greener choices in your kitchen can add up to big differences for the environment (and your wallet) — we’ll be giving away our famous reusable shopping bags every few days, too! It all starts April 1. Get automatic updates by becoming our fan on Facebook or following us on Twitter. (Bag offer valid for users in the 50 US states and US territories only; we’re sorry, but we can’t ship bags internationally.) Visit Earthbound Farm online at www.ebfarm.com to search our database of delicious recipes, find information about organic food and farming, watch videos, get product coupons, and more! Our Farm Stand is Open Year-Round 7250 Carmel Valley Rd., Carmel, CA 93923 eNews and its contents are ©2010 Earthbound Farm. |
