Happy Summer Solstice! It’s the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, when all locations north of the equator get more than 12 hours of sunlight. Our Farm Stand gardens in Carmel Valley, CA (above) just drink it up!

Nothing is as fundamentally important to life on our planet as the length of the day. Our sun is the ultimate source of light and warmth on the surface — and its energy is responsible for the bountiful summer produce that we all love.

How will you enjoy our longest day? Here are some sunny ideas:

  • Get out and play. In the backyard or beyond, fresh air and movement are good for body and spirit.
  • Dine al fresco. Fire up the grill or pack up a simple picnic. Nature is a great appetizer!
  • Chill out. Invite a friend over to relax with a cool drink and good conversation instead of email or video.
  • Snack up. Keep your mood and your energy high with healthy, family-friendly snacks that keep you going long and strong.

Feature at least one organic food in your meals today (and this weekend) for a Summer Solstice that’s healthier for you and the planet, too. Enjoy!
