Watch a Video...Be Inspired
Take a break from the hectic holiday rush —kick back with your laptop or tablet to take in two videos from the Do Something Reel™ Film Festival:
- In “Delicious Peace Grows in a Ugandan Coffee Bean,” Ugandan farmers of Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths create the “Delicious Peace” Cooperative, working side by side to build peaceful relationships and economic opportunity for the organic coffee they grow. Working with a Fair Trade buyer in the US, the farmers’ standard of living is improving, peace is flourishing, and the farmers’ messages of peace and fair wages are inspiring their coffee customers in the US.
- “Food Stamped” is a lighthearted, educational documentary that follows a couple trying to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet on a food stamp budget. Nutrition educator Shira teaches cooking classes to elementary school students in low-income neighborhoods, most of whom are eligible for food stamps — so she and her documentary filmmaker husband Yoav see if they can manage to eat on that same budget: $1 per meal.
The Do Something Reel Film Festival — brought to you by Whole Foods Markets and proudly sponsored by Earthbound Farm — helps independent filmmakers tell interesting, inspiring stories about food, environmental issues and everyday people who have a vision for a better world. Watch trailers for free or rent the films online; all proceeds go toward the American Film Institute’s Silverdocs grant program supporting filmmakers in the green genre.
